Jasmine plants need a lot of water, especially when they are in bloom. It is best to always keep the soil slightly moist. The soil mixture should remain moist throughout the year, but not soggy. Less water is needed during the resting period following bloom decline.It has beautiful dark green foliage and white, fragrant flowers in spring. It is subject to winter kill to the ground when grown in full sun. It is tolerant of heavy shade. Star jasmine is in a different family (Apocynaceae) than the true jasmines in genus um (Oleaceae).
